Progress

It's a perfect picture of summer--grandpa and kids building a tree house!
The thought has been there for a couple of years and now the reality is beginning They will have the floor and railings up (for safety) and then later, the dance floor for Randy & Gina's wedding will become the sides of the house! Ah...memories!

Catching up...or not!

I haven't written anything for a while but we're still here. I've had opportunity to babysit all 5 grandkids over the last couple of weeks, but Gary's kids every day while he works. This week in the mornings I've taken them to VBS and then during that time I've squeezed in going to work a couple of days, having breakfast with Karla, and getting a little shopping done. The afternoons are pretty much spent with them playing and me working in the yard. The kids have been treated to a wonderland of play activities at our next-door neighbors too. Their grandchildren are here for the week and they have a trampoline and water slides! (A wonderful way to wear kids out, by the way!) In the meantime, my house is a disaster but maybe I'll tackle it this weekend---or not. The wedding is still 29 days away. I still have time, don't I?

It wasn't on vibrate, was it?

Well, I've done it this time. I can't find my cell phone anywhere. The last time I know I had it was this morning in the car but then I came home and after a few inside chores, spent a good part of the day outside doing yard work. When it came time to take the grandkids back to their mom, I reached for my phone to call her and....... So of course, I called it so I could hear where it was (that always works) but it couldn't be heard. I'm sure I looked goofy walking all over the yard with our cordless home phone calling and calling. I even re-raked the fresh barkdust in case I'd buried it. Phooey!! Maybe it fell out in a parking lot? I may have to go cancel that phone and number. That will break my heart---I've had the same cell phone number since 1995!

What season is it?

It must be summer! Dan is starting the first of many nights out on the highway tonight(already there actually). What's that Jeff Foxworthy joke about the Oregon weather? "There's four seasons.. almost winter, winter, just after winter and road construction!" So when you meet the inevitable road crew this summer slowing your journey, just remember that these are your federal stimulus dollars at work!

Catching up

Great news-hubby is back to work full time finally! PTL! There is a little downside but we'll deal with it. He'll be working nights on the highway, which is always dangerous so stay alert people! Of course, that means he'll need to sleep days while I watch our grandchildren so there will be challenges all around but, hey, he has a job again and that's worth celebrating!
Another celebration comes with school finally almost officially over even though I'll be back for a few more days. At least after today it'll be on my schedule.

Minimal damage

The thunderstorm hit us hard just like it did everywhere but we are extremely thankful that their is minimal damage. A few more branches down or partway broken and hanging from the trees and temporary flooding is about all we suffered. So it's a cleanup weekend! My father is expected as well. He always comes this weekend to attend his army reunion in Monmouth so we won't see much of him until that's over on Sunday.
